Representative
United States House of Representatives
2407 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515-0001
Dear Representative,
As a concerned American, I write to urge you to support the renewal of the expiring provisions in the Voting Rights Act of 1965. These sections have been instrumental in making the VRA the most successful civil rights law in history. They must not be allowed to expire until the promise of "one person, one vote" is a reality.
I also urge you not to rush reauthorization. The Supreme Court has made it quite clear that Congress must engage in thorough fact-finding, with a proper legislative record, before the court will uphold laws enforcing the 13th, 14th or 15th Amendments.
It is also important that Congress act to restore the original intent of the Voting Rights Act by clarifying the kinds of circumstances that result in a retrenchment of voting rights for minority citizens.
Discrimination in voting remains an unfortunate fact of life around the country. Just last year, a federal court in South Dakota found that the state government had officially been conspiring to disfranchise American Indian voters.
Additionally, the state of Louisiana has never had a proposed change to its voting laws pass muster with the Justice Department.
Again, please support the reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act's expiring provisions. Although I hope they will no longer be necessary at some point, that time has not yet come and the promise we made 40 years ago as a nation is in danger.
Sincerely,
Your Constituant

Congressman -
There are some disturbing rumors and whispers that changes at Justice may impact the role and sanctity of the Fitzgerald investigation.
RAW STORY has this:

And DailyKOS has this:

Can you check into it and let us know what concerns, if any, you have? This could be a critical issue, undermining the integrity of our government to depths that should never be reached.
Thank you.

BTW - sorry for the off-topic post...the voting rights renewal is also crucial, as is the need to for free and fair elections with voter-verifiable paper trails and the capacity to recount.
I just didn't want to let this one slide...

There's a pattern here Karl "Turdblossom" Rove!
C.I.A. Leak Case Recalls Texas Incident in '92 Race
In 1992 in an incident well known in Texas, Mr. Rove was fired from the state campaign to re-elect the first President Bush on suspicions that Mr. Rove had leaked damaging information to Mr. Novak about Robert Mosbacher Jr., the campaign manager and the son of a former commerce secretary.
(snip)
Specifically, Mr. Mosbacher told The Houston Chronicle in 2003 that he had given a competitor of Mr. Rove the bulk of a $1 million contract for direct mail work in the campaign.
"I thought another firm was better," Mr. Mosbacher told The Chronicle. "I had $1 million for direct mail. I gave Rove a contract for $250,000 and $750,000 to the other firm."
The other firm belonged to Mr. Rove's chief competitor, John Weaver, and Mr. Rove was so angry, Texas Republicans say, that he retaliated by leaking the information about Mr. Mosbacher to Mr. Novak.
ANGER MANAGEMENT 101 - YOUR FIRED!

Karl Rove went too far this time.....
Not only did he hire Thomas Noe, Ralph Reed and others to steal the election of 2004 using their partisan hack BOEs as the hackers....
Not only did he allow Robert Diekmann and Diebold employees unsupervised access to the counters.....
Not only did he ensure the hacked machines of 2004 produced a presidential result PNAC would appreciate....
But on top of that, he did it all to cover for his very serious and alarming treasonous crimes!!!!!!
KARL ROVE IS A TRAITOR TO AMERICA
He committed treason....FLAT OUT, and stole votes from citizens in order to avoid accountability!!!
HOW CAN WE SIT BY? WE CAN'T. Today in Atlanta, over 190,000 people marched for the stolen elections.
The truth is coming rearing to the front of the stage.....
KARL ROVE & VOTING MACHINES ENDED OUR DEMOCRACY!!!!
It is time to take it back, with absolute vengence....And send the whole network to the depths of prison.....
Full on court press, the Grand Juries must convict and try the traitors of downing street.

Admin: I am having some trouble reading this thread. Margins are way too wide.
Sandra, I have been wondering for quite a while why no one has pointed out Rove's previous firing re. leaking info, and his shady relationship w/ Novak, probably Judy Miller & others. This is a pattern even MSM should have jumped on.

Today in Atlanta, Georgia
Pro-Democracy March for Voting Rights, Jobs, Justice, & Peace
United for Peace and Justice is supporting the call issued by the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition for a march and rally on August 6 2005, in Atlanta, Georgia. This important event will commemorate the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Voting Rights Act and call attention to the threats facing minorities and the poor as key provisions of the Act come up for Congressional renewal in 2007.
Most people are not aware that the right to vote is not explicitly stated in the Constitution. The right to vote is a state right, and thus subject to differing laws and regulations as established by each individual state.
This accounts for the various abuses that have been practiced at different times over the years including poll taxes, literacy tests, property ownership requirements, and the many abuses of the system we face today.
The Voting Rights Act was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson in 1965. It provides protection for voters against actions taken by states to limit participation in the electoral process, actions most often targeted toward African American, Latino, and low income citizens. Several key provisions of the Act expire in 2007, and Rev. Jackson and the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition are taking the lead in campaigning for their renewal. The campaign begins in Atlanta on August 6. UFPJ urges you to this important event, especially if you are in a day's drive of Atlanta.

We should organize a march on Crawford!!!! Here is what Deputy Stephen J. Hadley had to say to Cindy Sheehan, and her cohorts.
"They told Cindy, George Bush really believed there were weapons of mass destruction, Saddam was a threat, the war in Iraq is making America safer, we are fighting in Iraq so they we don't have to fight terrorists here, and George Bush sincerely cares about the loss of the soldiers and their families. They had a twenty-five minute discussion as Cindy refuted these tired arguements, and reminded the men that she had met Bush last June and she had felt disrespected and belittled. She said to them "You are intelligent men, how can you believe what you are saying?""
http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/?q=node/1207
EVEN THEY ARE ADMITTING NOW THAT GEORGE WAS DUPED, BUT THERES NO WAY GEORGE WAS THAT STUPID TO BELIEVE FALSE INTELLIGENCE!!!!
He simply ignored it, since he wanted to take out saddom and be cool. That's all, he is guilty by complicity!!!!
He has no idea how crazy these PNAC freaks are, how dare he simply shrug it off!!!!!!!
Now he's trying to intimidate them by sending out secret service, Bush you moron. None of this stuff does any good, we're coming.
Richard E. Cheney evidently bamboozled your fragile mind, because you are acting like a child. When are you going to agree to stop taking orders from them, can't you see? AMERICA WANTS THE LIES TO STOP!!!!!
PNAC=totally insane, they want to NUKE IRAN. NO AMOUNT OF MONEY IS WORTH IT, GEORGE BETTER GET OUT OF DODGE!!!!!

RUH OH I. Lewis Scooter Libby, met with Judith Miller in a private conference after talking to John R. Bolton.....
Exactly 2 days before Miller outed Plame and 6 days before Robert Novak outed Plame...
"I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, the chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, has told federal investigators that he met with New York Times reporter Judith Miller on July 8, 2003, and discussed CIA operative Valerie Plame, according to legal sources familiar with Libby's account.
The meeting between Libby and Miller has been a central focus of the investigation by special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald as to whether any Bush administration official broke the law by unmasking Plame's identity or relied on classified information to discredit former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson, according to sources close to the case as well as documents filed in federal court by Fitzgerald.
The meeting took place in Washington, D.C., six days before columnist Robert Novak wrote his now-infamous column unmasking Plame as a "CIA operative." Although little noticed at the time, Novak's column would cause the appointment of a special prosecutor, ultimately place in potential legal jeopardy senior advisers to the president of the United States, and lead to the jailing of a New York Times reporter.
The meeting between Libby and Miller also occurred during a week of intense activity by Libby and White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove aimed at discrediting Plame's husband, Wilson, who on July 6, 2003, had gone public in a New York Times opinion piece with allegations that the Bush administration was misrepresenting intelligence information to make the case to go to war with Iraq."
LIBBY CAUGHT IN CHENEY'S ROOM
Can you say conspiracy? Judith Miller talked with Lewis Libby not even a day after Bolton had returned from the State....They were discussing the conflicting information regarding Niger Uranium and the importance of....certain components.
It seems to me this bastard Libby leaked the information to three reporters, and met with Karl in a conspiracy to distribute the information everywhere.
Hand caught in the cookie jar!!!

Doug: #5: Karl Rove & Voting Machines ended our Democracy.... chilling, but all of that is public record.....WHY, knowing what we do @ Diebold et al, did Kerry & Hackett concede w/out a huge, howling fight? There was a discussion on a previous thread, that Kerry sold us out. I tend to agree.
Re. Cong. Conyers observation, that the more bad news that comes out of the WH, the more it will distance the average American...it sure seems to me, that this President, who has done nothing to deserve one iota of loyalty, has so many people so deeply entrenched. Is it just simply that the alternative to blind loyalty is the dreadful knowledge that is the truth?
Re. Bush being duped. I don't believe that for one minute. He knew he had sold his soul to devil Cheney. He just closed his eyes and read My Pet Goat. They promised him a crown and pretty velvet robe.

The fact is Kerry didn't care. With Hackett, he doesn't even know. Duped, or stupified? But we as americans are all waking up, less than 39% still follow in lockstep with the Bush Junta...That is a sign of AWAKENING.
By the way we've all sent evidence to Hackett, he may well come back to the office and decide....Its all or nothing, we fight until every ballot is counted.

Civil War In Iraq, Made In the USA
snip~
With the war stalemated, repeated deployments wearing down troop morale and too few new recruits to maintain force levels, the Bush administration may be provoking civil war as its “exit strategy.” The goal would be to break up Iraq into mini-states to allow a reduction in U.S. troops while retaining access to massive oil deposits in the North and South.
“Every single thing the U.S. did led to civil war,” says Christian Parenti, author of “The Freedom,” his account of occupied Iraq, “The failure of reconstruction, the firing of the army, the blatant theft of Iraqi oil money, the use of the Badr Brigade, the use of Peshmerga, the use of death squads, the use of indiscriminate detention and torture, the destruction of Falluja and other towns in Al Anbar province,” explains Parenti, created a raging insurgency and sparked civil war.

Today is the 60th Anniversary of the Hiroshima bomb, and I am angry, I am very angry. And I will say what I have to say, and I don't care who I offend and I certainly won't apologize.
I joined into a peace walk today to bring attention to Uranium Weapons on this day. This was not an impeach Bush protest or a get rid of Rove thing, though you could link those two into this one. This was not even an end the war kinda thing. We were told not to carry any signs that named names or used names, and one person was even wearing a tee shirt that read Okies never give up or something like that. I first thought he was pro-military, but when I heard him speak, I realized he was a scientist who just wanted to make people aware of the dangers of Uranium Weapons. There were speeches and we marched around the bombed federal building in Oklahoma City and we even had a police escort. Channel 4 news covered it, afterwards we watched a movie.
Impressively, five churches were involved in this, the Mennonites, A Congregational Church, The Unitarians, an Episcopal Church and United Church of Christ Open Arms. Unfortunately, some didn't bother to attend because of the spiritual nature. Well I say the hell with them, even though I don't believe in hell. They need to take a good long look at their hemorrhoidle and or tight ass problem; it is all kind of anal. Good people regardless of their beliefs about God are trying to do a good thing, we're all on the same side, and that's the side of life.
I wished my memory was better or I had pencil and paper to take notes. At the end, the peace house showed us a movie, and this made me angry, very angry. People are dying and children will be deformed for billions of years to come in Iraq, and this is the part that makes me very angry. Exact figures, well, you know how that goes, it depends on who's counting. Over 2200 tons used in Iraq as of 2004. There were a couple well-informed people who agreed that it might be a good idea to use depleted uranium as tank armor. It is denser then lead and therefor more difficult to penetrate. This can be an excellent protection for our troops. However, most of our concern was with the depleted uranium used in launched weapons. Dirty bombs having the blessing of our nation. Creating explosions producing a fine dust of crystallized depleted uranium, still producing radiation that is easily inhaled into the lungs. A great deadly weapon that goes on killing and deforming children for a billion years.
Why are we doing this to the Iraqi people? Send Rummi to prison for murdering and deforming future unborn children I say, and they do know about this, and I'm sure even the president does also. Is this just a way to eradicate none Christians? If you can't save em, kill em is the new evangelical philosophy - I encourage all to question your local evangelicals about this, they who more then anyone support this war with their Revelations thumping propaganda. The hypocrites who are so against abortion and made such a big thing out of Schiavo. If we pretend it isn't so, it won't be, now you tell that to the children.
I'm disgusted, ashamed and outraged that we have done this. And even our own people, our soldiers are sick and their children are being born deformed, a common defect is a missing hand and I hope that's all, but I fear as these children grow up we will learn more, and government takes no responsibility for the care and well being of these children. And while it only involves just a small percentage of U.S. children, the same cannot be said for Iraqi children.
Those responsible, who knew, but never the less gave the order, they are the demon followers of Satan. The Anti-Christ Traitors, claiming to be Christians, followers of Jesus, but followers of Satan himself disguised as an angle of light. That's what I have to say about that, and I'm not going to apologize.

In the winter of 1971 George W. Bush was dating a woman named Robin Lowman (now Robin Garner). Miss Lowman became pregnant by Smirk and he arranged for her to have an abortion - which in the great state of Texas in 1971 was very illegal! Not to mention that George W. is running as a pro-life candidate for the presidency.

Congressman,
Please continue to work to insure the integrity of voting in our nation. I think this is one of the most important issues of our times. I would like to see a more uniform voting system nation wide. I live in a state with mail in ballots and no machine count. It is not fool proof I'm sure however it does offer a great measure of fairness and is very inclusive to all citizens of all walks of life. I am fortunate to live in an upper middle class neighborhood and people who live in my area seem to be well represented. The mail ballot system works well for working people in all areas of the society as it allows them to vote over a period of weeks, on their schedule. I am very offended by reports that Ohio and Florida do not accommodate all their citizens equally or machines are not counting votes accurately. Americans of all ethnicity and income levels deserve equal access to the system. Please continue to fight for equality in this most important American institution.

Sucks I know but Bush is not responsible for 100,000 civilians dead in Iraq. He was not even aware of what the hell was going on, since the truth was surpressed. Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld ordered those strikes which took out thousands of Iraqis.
He probably doesn't even want to know how many died, no exscuse, but he's guilty of only failing to stop them from war crimes.

re-post for background
"The subtleness of this plan is that the Light is forever increasing in its power, and eventually it is the dark that will have to concede victory. Indeed, you are not too far from accomplishing it, and this is why we repeatedly inform that the victory is already yours"
St. Germain 06.20.05
By now, you are all familiar with the battle that is taking place on Earth. It is the final confrontation between the dark and Light. You see the outer signs of what is happening, but without a good method of communication you could easily sit around being blissfully unaware of the truth. At present your only reliable concentration of daily news is on the Internet, but even then you have to be discerning. The dark are well aware of what a powerful medium it is, and they too use it for their dissemination of false information. With a degree of analysis it should be fairly obvious as to which ones these are, as the information they give flies into the face of reason.
Have you considered that the biggest battle is the one that goes inside of you? It is one that is continual, and pitting your ego against your Higher Self. Let’s put it another way, and say your personality against your intuition. Some of you claim that you are what you are, and that you cannot do anything about it. I tell you that you are what you want to be, and it is no use making excuses. Take the showing of bad temper, and some will say "I cannot help it, that is the way I am" and therefore never apply themselves to making an improvement in their behavior.
The point I am trying to make is that you are totally in charge, and if you do not like what you are, you do have the ability to change. Your outlook will have been colored by various influences around you as you have grown up. However, as an adult you can break out of any conditioning that has affected your manner or attitude. What is important is how you see everyone else, because this will determine your relationship to them. Prejudice is often born through parental upbringing, but there is no reason why you should not be your own person. In your subconscious you have a pattern that is derived from your experiences over millennia of time. It will clearly surface and affect your thinking, but what was normal or appropriate in another time may no longer be acceptable now.
Have you noticed how you can follow some decisions through with utter conviction, yet others can cause a great degree of consternation. The battle takes place many times a day. By what measure do you interpret Man’s laws, as I would say that you have a “feeling” about things that sometimes tells you that they are wrong and oppressive? Thank goodness that your Higher Self is able to reach you and make itself felt. For some time now you have seen your rights taken away, and in part you have accepted that it has been in your best interests.
Now, you are questioning the reasons given, and see the dishonesty that is often behind those moves. You know or sense that you have not just a claim to freedom, but a God given right and this is embodied in your original Constitution. So you now find the battle is on your own doorstep, and it begs of you what action you will take. For quite a long time there has been little resistance, but now everything is coming to a head. The challenge seems insurmountable, yet every thought and action that is intended to change the situation is important. Never feel that you have little to offer, as everyone can contribute to bringing about the changes. Do what you are best at and most important talk to others for supporting views and opinions.
There are many souls who have incarnated to be here for this particular time. They have a pre-determined role to play, and number amongst the Lightworkers who work on a different level to most others. The Spiritual Hierarchy fully intended that in these end times that there would be a force of Light upon Earth that would be equal to the dark, and ensure that the Creator’s plan would work out. The subtleness of this plan is that the Light is forever increasing in its power, and eventually it is the dark that will have to concede victory. Indeed, you are not too far from accomplishing it, and this is why we repeatedly inform that the victory is already yours.
Meantime, I come back to the personal battle that each of you is fighting. Try to be more aware, and listen carefully to your inner voice as it is your guiding light. Begin lifting yourself up, and change those aspects that are not of the positive energies. You will be surprised as to what success you can achieve when you become fully committed. Move away from the lower vibrations because they will impinge themselves upon you. Be true to yourself, that is your Higher Self, and notice how you gradually become at One with all else, and the internal conflicts start to disappear. You can bring about a peace within yourself, that goes out into the ethers and affects others in a positive way.
You sometimes refer to the battle for your soul, I tell you that it is within you, and no negative influence can affect you unless you invite it in. It is most important that you approach life in a positive manner, and do not allow fear to overcome you. Fear is the energy of the dark, and without it they will lose their power and ability to control you. Regrettably, some religions are based more on fear than love and they create the very things they are fearful of without realizing what they do. It would do well to draw back and concentrate on the power of love, and with that energy you will be safe from the unseen.
I am St. Germain, and I can say that everything goes according to plan and we are as near as ever we were to manifesting the first changes. It is a matter of faith, and I know you have been well tested. Always bear in mind you have never been forsaken, and the promises that have been made for your salvation will be fulfilled. See the greater happenings, and know as always you are greatly loved beyond measure. The Heavens already rejoice for you, and surround the Earth with their Light and Love.
Thank you St. Germain,
Mike Quinsey

If as it seems, there is literally NOBODY who can provide ANY plausible explanation for the PROVEN actions of these PROVEN Mossad Agents on the morning of 9/11 - then virtually everything else being discussed is a smoke screen to cover up the largest crime in history, committed by the State of Israel, in concert with the:
PNAC/CHENEY/BUSH/NEOCON/ISRAELI Organized Crime Ring.
If no one has any explanation for this activity, can we not assume that this single truth supercedes all of these other issues as the most important topic in our lives today? Doesn't this explain EVERYTHING?
This is not conspiracy. These are facts.
Google: Dancing Israelis
Somebody explain it...SOMEBODY? ANYBODY?
Let's see the RNC talking points on this topic.
Look, I know this is the most highly sensitive subject on Earth and that 2/3 of our elected officials are on the take from this particular Foreign Government...but I frankly don't care. Forget playing nice or being politically correct.
GET REAL.

I have read about this before as well as their release. However, your continued request for someone on this blog to explain it is misplaced. I would appreciate your research and explanation of the Israel-USA-Britain connection which is quite extensive and spans many years right up to the present; and includes not only foreign policy but, domestic policy in the arena of ongoing training of Homeland Security forces both here and in London.

In 1950's America, the equality of man envisioned by the Declaration of Independence was far from a reality. People of color, blacks, Hispanics, Orientals, were discriminated against in many ways, both overt and covert. The 1950's were a turbulent time in America, when racial barriers began to come down due to Supreme Court decisions, like Brown v. Board of Education; and due to an increase in the activism of blacks, fighting for equal rights.
Martin Luther King, Jr., a Baptist minister, was a driving force in the push for racial equality in the 1950's and the 1960's. In 1963, King and his staff focused on Birmingham, Alabama. They marched and protested non-violently, raising the ire of local officials who sicced water cannon and police dogs on the marchers, whose ranks included teenagers and children. The bad publicity and break-down of business forced the white leaders of Birmingham to concede to some anti-segregation demands.
Thrust into the national spotlight in Birmingham, where he was arrested and jailed, King organized a massive march on Washington, DC, on August 28, 1963. On the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, he evoked the name of Lincoln in his "I Have a Dream" speech, which is credited with mobilizing supporters of desegregation and prompted the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The next year, King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
The following is the exact text of the spoken speech, transcribed from recordings.

I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.
I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.
This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with a new meaning, "My country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring."
And if America is to be a great nation this must become true. So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania!
Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado!
Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California!
But not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia!
Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee!
Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring.
And when this happens, When we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"
I Have A Dream

"We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny and their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. We cannot walk alone."
snip~
"I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. Some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive."

The assassination of John Kennedy in November 1963 left most civil rights leaders grief-stricken. Kennedy had been the first president since Harry Truman to champion equal rights for black Americans, and they knew little about his successor, Lyndon Baines Johnson. Although Johnson had helped engineer the Civil Rights Act of 1957, that had been a mild measure, and no one knew if the Texan would continue Kennedy's call for civil rights or move to placate his fellow southerners.
But on November 27, 1963, addressing the Congress and the nation for the first time as president, Johnson called for passage of the civil rights bill as a monument to the fallen Kennedy. "Let us continue," he declared, promising that "the ideas and the ideals which [Kennedy] so nobly represented must and will be translated into effective action." Moreover, where Kennedy had been sound on principle, Lyndon Johnson was the master of parliamentary procedure, and he used his considerable talents as well as the prestige of the presidency in support of the bill.
On February 10, 1964, the House of Representatives passed the measure by a lopsided 290-130 vote, but everyone knew that the real battle would be in the Senate, whose rules had allowed southerners in the past to mount filibusters that had effectively killed nearly all civil rights legislation. But Johnson pulled every string he knew, and had the civil rights leaders mount a massive lobbying campaign, including inundating the Capitol with religious leaders of all faiths and colors. The strategy paid off, and in June the Senate voted to close debate; a few weeks later, it passed the most important piece of civil rights legislation in the nation's history, and on July 2, 1964, President Johnson signed it into law.
Some members of Congress, however, worried whether the law would pass constitutional muster, since in 1883 the Supreme Court had voided the last civil rights measure, declaring such action beyond the scope of congressional power. They need not have worried this time. The Supreme Court accepted two cases on an accelerated basis and in both of them unanimously upheld the power of Congress under the Fourteenth Amendment to protect the civil rights of black Americans.

Congressman, they don't answer because they're clearly in violation of the law; both the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act...
"Civil Rights Act of 1964".
TITLE I--VOTING RIGHTS
SEC. 101. Section 2004 of the Revised Statutes (42 U.S.C. 1971), as amended by section 131 of the Civil Rights Act of 1957 (71 Stat. 637), and as further amended by section 601 of the Civil Rights Act of 1960 (74 Stat. 90), is further amended as follows:
(a) Insert "1" after "(a)" in subsection (a) and add at the end of subsection (a) the following new paragraphs:
"(2) No person acting under color of law shall--
"(A) in determining whether any individual is qualified under State law or laws to vote in any Federal election, apply any standard, practice, or procedure different from the standards, practices, or procedures applied under such law or laws to other individuals within the same county, parish, or similar political subdivision who have been found by State officials to be qualified to vote;
"(B) deny the right of any individual to vote in any Federal election because of an error or omission on any record or paper relating to any application, registration, or other act requisite to voting, if such error or omission is not material in determining whether such individual is qualified under State law to vote in such election; or
"(C) employ any literacy test as a qualification for voting in any Federal election unless (i) such test is administered to each individual and is conducted wholly in writing, and (ii) a certified copy of the test and of the answers given by the individual is furnished to him within twenty-five days of the submission of his request made within the period of time during which records and papers are required to be retained and preserved pursuant to title III of the Civil Rights Act of 1960 (42 U.S.C. 1974--74e; 74 Stat. 88): Provided, however, That the Attorney General may enter into agreements with appropriate State or local authorities that preparation, conduct, and maintenance of such tests in accordance with the provisions of applicable State or local law, including such special provisions as are necessary in the preparation, conduct, and maintenance of such tests for persons who are blind or otherwise physically handicapped, meet the purposes of this subparagraph and constitute compliance therewith.
..."It shall be the duty of the judge designated pursuant to this section to assign the case for hearing at the earliest practicable date and to cause the case to be in every way expedited."
-------------------------------
The Voting Rights Act of 1965, meant to reverse this disenfranchisement, grew out of both public protest and private political negotiation. Starting in 1961, CORE joined SCLC in staging nonviolent demonstrations in Georgia, and Birmingham. They hoped to attract national media attention and pressure the U.S. government to protect Black's constitutional rights. The strategy worked. Newspaper photos and television broadcasts of Birmingham's notoriously racist police commissioner, Eugene "Bull" Connor, and his men violently attacking the peaceful protesters with water hoses, police dogs, and nightsticks awakened the consciences of whites.

"...soul force." (from Comment #37: Sandra said...). Sounds good to me, sounds right. Sounds something like whatever I've been able to make out of what Lemon posts here. Sounds like what Cindy Sheehan and others are doing outdide the Bush ranch in Texas. Sounds, also, like what I see happening on CSPAN when House members (many, if not most, of them black) try to be heard on the DSM. Representative Conyers, I really appreciate all you've done trying to get this stuff out, including putting up this site. Thank you. Sincerely, R Ap

Hi Sandra:
Thank you for your thoughtful response. Your suggestion that I reveal to you my deeper research into past collusion among the powers that be is of course valid, however it does not serve a useful purpose. All of that research exists, and it is up to those who seek the truth to ascertain for themselves the depth and bredth of the conspiracy.
I am focusing on one incident like a laser beam - for if this single incident cannot be explained, and has been swept under the rug to protect Israel (OBVIOUSLY), and by extension, to hide the broader conspiracy of which you speak, then it is in my judgement THE smoking gun which is the catalyst around which all other related conspiracies can be explained.
It is too overwhelming and too confusing for most to comprehend such a grand conspiracy. By focusing on one single fact, the American Public can come to grasp the answer to the question..."who done it?"
Imagine for a moment what would happen in his country if 90 % of those poled stated that it was ISRAEL and the Mossad who actually carried out the 9/11 attacks. Now I don't know whether or not this is true, but despite my repeated requests for ANY PLAUSIBLE EXPLANATION FOR THE DANCING ISRAELI MOSSAD AGENTS IN NEW YORK ON 9/11 - not one single explanation has been forthcoming.
If we continue to ask this question, and no explanation follows, this is a form of evidence.
Why is it that my own government detained and then released agents of a foreign power who were caught video taping and celebrating the destruction of the Twin Towers? Name a behavior that could have been more suspicious on 9/11?
Why is it that there were virtually ZERO Israeli Nationals in the largest financial center on earth at the time of the attacks? Why is it that a warning went out on an Israeli owned paging system (Odigo)in advance of the attack warning users to avoid the towers?
What other questions can be more important than these?
Why is no one answering these basic questions? Why aren't we all demanding these questions be ASKED, and ANSWERED, everyday by the White House Press Corps?
Any answer? Any answer at all? Is there no one who can explain this?
If not - what conclusion do you draw? Should I just be polite and stop asking?
If you want historic examples...google "USS LIBERTY" and see how the US Government covered for Israel at the expense of the surviving US Servicemen.
Who runs this country? To whose benefit?
After we pleaded with Israel not to build settlements in Gaza, we are now paying them $2 billion to remove them. That's YOUR MONEY.

It is NOT the country of Israel, the citizens are seperate from the government.
Bush was prepared to leave Iraq alone and he was going to take Saddom out using his own methods.
Then something happened, when Michael Ledeen and the crazy Likuds of PNAC got to him....
He completely changed in that moment, to declaring Saddom has nuclear weapons and must be eliminated and all of Iraq must die.
It appears to me that the PNAC Likud party, which includes AEI, signed them up to do this and Cheney manipulated Bush into the proposition. All this has been about is pure money and profit, for ARAMCO aka Halliburton.
Now that Cheney has what he wants, PNAC is getting restless to take over the rest of the world. That's why there is a fallout...

Thank you Plunger and LenaDavid as well.
Between the two of you most of the ground I was worried about is now occupied. It remains yet to ask the key question, how many israeli spies does it take to take over the United States government, and how many can be counted at the Whitehouse using public information?
Plunger is very correct in saying "If we continue to ask this question, and no explanation follows, this is a form of evidence.' Some questions have this quality, that the absence of an answer verifies guilt. As with the question why did Ben stay at his hotel on the morn of 7/7? Plunger has a better question because it pisses me off, but mine is current. It is not "old news that everybody knows about." And the answer to both these questions is the same.
I'd like to address for a moment the subject of criminal loyalty at the extream edge, and how to break it. There is a standard method to ensure loyalty to a cause undeserving. That is to lead the initiate to perform a reprehensible act in the name of that cause. Then ever after the "victim" of this psyco-operation will be unable to question his cause, it's leaders or thier orders without automaticly and immediatly facing guilt, both personal and collective. Left to themselves, few will even think to challenge this form of control because it relies on SELF-censorship. The "victim" will avoid pain by not thinking about the why of his loyalty.
Unchecked this can be VERY powerful.
Checking it however can be VERY distasteful. What must be done to counter the brainwashing is open the door the "victim" is pretending he doesn't know is shut. Just tell him how to step out of the trap. You look him straight in the eye and say, "Dude! You could turn States Evidence!" Yes this is, quite distasteful. But if you can swallow the bile and do this for some small fry, you will be handed by them everything you need to roast the big fish.
And who cares about small fry? Who indeed!
In shades of a darker pale, I'd like to ask you to notice a couple of data points :
18 Gold Nuggets
NSA's Breeding Ground
Homeland Security
Future Urban Warfare
Private Military
List of Terrorists
Titan
That is all the same source and it's not new, but the question is, considering capability and not intention (which is unknowable), what is being built?
Also thought you might like to notice this
Regarding me sitting down, I kind of had to anyway. Eye trouble. It's getting better. Maybe next week. In the meantime I thought, how to make the best of this. I was already quite alarmed about some of admins moves, and so quite naturaly one foot followed the other. Sort of a foot in the door sort of plan. LenaDavid has been helpful pushing at that door and plunger busted it open, pointedly. Then Johnothon gold set the door on fire. I no longer need to leave my foot in it.
I don't think it would be any longer anti-semitic to ask how many Israeli spies would be needed to take over the United States government. Not in the way it was anti-semitic to ask, who called Ben? Which is what set me off to begin with.
It remains however, quite mysterious to me why admin should wish to deny us the assistance of Researcher and Constant. As if we were the majority and could afford that kind of imperious bullshit. Like we don't get enough of that from republicans.
An explanation to such a question, being absent, implies directly that absense.
