Fantastic news! Get yourself and Kerry onto some news shows and keep the pressure on! I still recommend the Daily Show, BTW. ;-)
I don't think you'll have any trouble hitting 250,000. Is it just me, or does this seem to be moving faster now? I'm seeing a little more coverage (on the net at least). Here's hoping it gets some mainstream coverage if Kerry can make a big enough stink about it in the Senate.

Why don't you put the letter up on Kerry's website. He has on at least two occasions been able to come up with over 250,000 signatures in a couple of days.

This is FANTASTIC news!... I feel this is growing more quickly now too. More public figures need to find their "nerve" so to speak, and stand tall and speak loudly, as you have Rep. Conyers. It is so sad to see this as a partisan issue when it is CLEARLY not. We need real leaders in our country that truly LOVE our country. You are very much the real thing.
Bless you and your inner drive to know what the right thing to do is.

The president and Vice president should be impeached. They are crooks and dont tell the truth. They think the law does not apply to them. The law applies to every one equally. If president Clinton was impeached for having sex with a woman then it is his wife's problem. President Bush ie screwing the whole country.
Than you.

It's good to see some action being taken on this issue.
Over the last year or so I've heard various left wing radio commentators stating that advocating the impeachment of this "president" is a dead issue, because the republicans in the House of Representatives will never act on such articles as may be submitted for consideration.
My opinion is that it is the constitutional duty of every American to demand the impeachment of this entire administration. I will only be satisfied when I hear that at least one member of Congress introduces articles of impeachment in the House of Representatives each and every day of the week that the House is in session until the matter is taken up and acted upon.
This nation is being taken for a ride on a downward slope; the cliff is looming before us. If our representatives don't put a stop to the actions of this administration, we, the People will have to do it. Any other course of action seems like national suicide to me.
Keep on going, Congressman Conyers. We are counting on you.

Thanks John Conyers and everyone else who continues to stand up for what is right, and believes in what America once stood for. As the web of deceit begins to glow in the dark, those that have nothing to be afraid of will come to the fore. Those that are involved, or have pandered to the power grab must hold on tight, for it is their lifeboat that will sink when the sh-t hits the fan.
I am not sure how impeachment works, which house of congress needs to act first, how the whole shebang gets processed. But once it does, the Repubs that do not want to be lumped with the Delays, Hasterts, Cornyns, and Frists, will have no choice but to move on with the process...particularly if they like their job in the government. Otherwise, when '06 comes around, there will be many on the red side joining the unemployment lines.
Mr. Conyers. I continue to enjoy your site and implore you to join ranks with senators (i.e., Kerry), and find those few republicans who are on the fence. There is power in numbers, and the media won't be able to ignore us anymore!! We've nearly got them in a head-lock. And as a psychiatric attendant years ago I learned that where-ever the head goes, the body will follow!!
p.s. The invite for dinner still stands!! If you're ever on Long Island, you'd be a welcome guest.

Congressman Conyers I have to tell you that I have tears steaming down my face as I write this, after reading this blog and listening to Randi Rhodes today, I know we can save our country because of all of us and Our Generals, you sir, Randi, the bloggers, Kos and all the others. This is what Democracy is, I have been so scared, and now I am just filled with pride. I felt the same way when I watched members of the Senate and Congress march into that Social Security Rally in April, it and this is awesome. perhaps this is rudimentary; but how will the names of all of the "signers" be verified?
i have noticed that one can sign another's information (or information which is possibly invalid), and it still accepts.
i can already foresee that as an open opportunity for "trolls" to commit sabotage with an influx of "signatures".
i only mention this as it could be a setback if any of these "signers were proven to be bogus (imagine what the "liberal media" would do with that one).
it seems a fault so simple on such an important issue would be catastrophic.
as i had mentioned; perhaps this is rudimentary, but i thought i would throw it out there...
will these "signatures" be keenly payed attention to, and concretely verified...checked thoroughly? how?
are helpers needed? where to volunteer?

Conservative Spin on Kerry Statement
We know that many modern conservatives no longer support the Constitution in backing the principles the country was founded on such as individual liberty, separation of powers, an independent judiciary, and separation of church and state. We also learned during the Clinton years that they have a strange sense of what constitutes an impeachable offense, such as a private consensual sexual relationship. What is a surprise is to learn is that the conservatives apparently don't even recall the Constitutionally mandated procedure for impeachment.
The Conservative Voice has twisted one of Kerry's statements reported yesterday, claiming that "Kerry advised that he will begin the presentation of his case for President Bush’s impeachment to Congress, on Monday."
Actually Kerry said nothing of impeachment when he said, "When I go back on Monday, I am going to raise the issue," when speaking of the Downing Street Memos. A basic understanding of the Constitution, not to mention a respect for honest journalism, should make the author realize the absurdity of this false statement. Impeachment must begin in the House of Representatives, and therefore Senator Kerry would not be involved in a move towards impeachment. However, as a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, it would be reasonable for Kerry to investigate such evidence that President Bush lied to Congress, as well as the American people, while preparing to go to war against Iraq based upon distorting intelligence reports.
Such misquotations of John Kerry are not unusual from the right. Afterall, this was the main means by which the Republicans attacked Kerry throughout the 2004 Presidential campaign. This again raises the question of why, if they apparently have so many areas of disagreement with John Kerry, they don't have the honesty--or guts--to attack him based upon things he actually said.

Just to play devil's advocate of sorts, is this the right move for the Democratic Party? It's far too early to know the ramifications of the Downing Street memo, but we have to know that this would be spun by the Republicans of more evidence of Democrats hating America and not supporting the troops by attacking the President in a time of war. Is now the time for the impeachment talk, or should we at least wait until we get some answers pertaining to the Downing Street memo?
Papa wrote: (that's me)
You bring up a very valid point. But there is one thing that works in our favor. If there is an impeachment hearing, that would mean that Bush and his entire cabinet will be forced to testify in front of Congress and in front of the world. And questions will be asked. Not just questions about the DSM, but the questions that many have been itching to ask them about 9/11. It will start with questions about his administrations assertions of Iraq's complicity in the 9/11 plot. Then the flood gate will be opened. I believe there are plenty of congress men and women dying to ask a few questions such as:
1. Why was the DC Air National Guard website mission statement changed after 9/11 from "to provide combat units in the highest possiable state of readiness", to a "vision" to "provide peacetime command and control and administrative mission oversight to support customers, DCANG units, and NGB in acheiving the highest state of readiness".
2. Why was the Pentagon (or the Capitol Building for that matter)not evacuated when it was clear that 4 or more planes were hijacked, 2 had already hit targets in New York, and one was heading for Washington? Concidering Vice President Cheney was already taken to the bunker, and Washington, specificly the Pentagon is the single most valuable military target on the eastern seaboard.
3. Why, concidering the official report that nobody was in posession of the knowelege of how many planes were actualy hijacked, and since [President Bush's] travel itinerary was public knowelege, did [your] Secret Service detail not esscort [you] to a safe location, and infact, allowed [you] to make a pre-schedueled news confrence?
4. Why did you repetedly make statements claiming that you saw "the plane hit the tower" before entering the classroom when everyone here knows that the video of the first terrorist strike was not recovered for another 18 hours, and the second strike occured while you were in the classroom? It was clear from the clip in "Farrenhiet 9/11" that you knew we were under attack when Mr. Card told you of the second strike. So I must ask you, why did you claim that "that was one bad pilot"? Was that remark a lie, or did you really see the first strike from some other "live" feed?
5. Mr. President (or VP, Def Sec, NSA, DCI), was there a stand down order?
6. Why?
End.
Again, thank you.
Philly thanks you.

One problem with this whole strategy... You're asking the criminals to investigate themselves, admit to their wrong doing, and give themselves up?! Wasnt it he who said, at his first inaugeral address - "I'm your President now, whether you like it, or not!" ?

Beforehand, notify media outlets including foreign press (BBC, et al) as to the date/time/purpose of your stroll to the Post. Some corrections though here, it was in the 800's that the Moslem Caliphs would not let the Christians visit Holy Sites. The 3 Great Religions of the World Christianity, Jewish, Islam can live together in beautiful peace and forget the cruel people who inflict suffering because there not worth it. Another correction to be made is that it was John Calvin I also just remembered too that put to death finatically a Spanish person ,Servetius, because like Calvin he broke with Catholic tradition. It was because of Calvin's intense belief in his own ways that caused this tyranny and finaticism the book, "A New Popular History of the World says," A Library of Congress book as others I mentioned and forewarded by Lowell Thomas, a famous journlist of the book of 63. Eric Rozales, TV Reporter, I wanted to give the Social Security issue of the Blind, Treatment for children, Public Health issue, help for hancicapped to earn a living who are on this program for him to put on TV so everyone can contribute to Social Security and everyone then can be reached. As you see so many people are on it. We must have had funds to be so far able to take of all the people. Right? But no one says anything. Jesus said,"Greatness lies in Serving others." So if you a Christian as you say,"Whereis the money? Even in my few food, shelter, job Report I submitted . All the above refused case. To Eric Rozales I did not get a chance to give him the few food, shelter, job issue as he refused to put on the Social Security matter. Kentucky Fried Chicken, Manual Chiquillos, Marlin,Jr. managers signed my paper saying not hiring and this for as long as 3 months in 2004. Job problems grievously terrible! Just What Are Our Soldiers Dying For? No Religious Rights, job Rights, Freedom Rights, and Individual Rights in America. 670 Eddy St. Sfc 94109
