I had not seen that entry, thanks for bringing it to my attention. For those who have not read, it details how right wing money is funding the opposition to Michael Schiavo. It does not surprise me however -- the right wing is funding reactionary efforts and issues all over Washington and America. We see it in issue after issue. Just this week a new right wing front organization testified at a congressional hearing on election reform, as my blog on this topic refers to above. Thanks again.

Thanks for blogging Congressman. Unbelieveable. I am truly impressed. An American Congressman with a clue about blogging. Good leadership. Even reading and responding to reader comments. Excellent work. It is inevitable that all elected officials will begin to blog for the people every day just like Congressman Conyers is doing now. It is only a question of time. Those who fail to do it during this election cycle will surely not be around to have another chance during the next. Who will be the next Congressional Representative to have the courage and vision to follow Mr. Conyers great example here? How many hours will it be?

Congressman, you are apparently familiar with BradBlog, so might have seen this already on ACVR: http://www.bradblog.com/archives/00001279.htm.
I think it would help the cause of true election reform to get the press to investigate how this brand new 501(c)3 was invited to testify in front of a House committee the day after their web site went up.
It should be clear to anyone without a conservative axe to grind that any group of "reformers" with campaign ties to the sitting majority can hardly be relied on for objective testimony. One might even conclude that their organization was formed specifically to throw the press off the real scent.
I wonder who is funding ACVR?

ConyersBlog, WOW, I am so impressed! This is going to be so educational and fun.
And speaking of acVR, Hmmm, where have I seen that VR logo before??

Perhaps someone from "American Center for Voting Rights" might be willing to answer Brad and our questions if they were asked by someone from the Ethic's committee?

News.Com: "Rep John Conyers says bloggers deserve the same legal protections as those accorded to print and broadcast journalists."
I agree wholeheartedly.

Still waiting for the next member of Congress to start blogging for the people. Who will it be? When will it happen? Only one Congressional Representative out of 535 members of the house and 100 members of the Senate? Let's get with the program. Follow the good example of the Representative from Detroit, Michigan and start blogging for the people today.

Mr. Conyers,
Thanks so much for a direct line to your office. This country is becomming a rather frightening place to live, particularly due to the blind-eye of 50-plus percent of the voting public, who elected Bush because of "morality" issues. Now we see how this morality presents itself...without an ounce of ethics. The following is a blurb I sent to a local newspaper...thought it was relevant to the typical behavior and misrepresentation of the facts.
“The Stress Press”
Chicken Little has nothing on President Bush! The chronic, repetitive, and ultimately sickening use of urgency as method of pushing through agenda demonstrates the lack of depth and value of the arguments proposed. A valid argument creates urgency of its own…and no need to claim “the sky is falling”. The rare Republican majority clearly presents an opportunity to address issues meaningful to the party ‘now’, and the urgency implied is a clear attempt to generate changes before the pendulum swings the other way. As a Psychologist, I am well aware of methods of manipulation and brainwashing. This President reeks of exploitation of a population seeking guidance and protection in a rather frightening world. This is one abusive parent!

Mr. Blackwell of Ohio has no class and certainly not a honest bone in his body. We the citizen realize what happen in Ohio and we will not long forget Blackwell's lies and deceit. Thank you Rep. John Conyers for keeping Election reform a part of our American lives. Please keep up the good fight for our right to vote and have it count.

Congressman,
Thanks for everything you do. You are truly one of the best (if not the best) voices that we have in government today, especially because you do so much listening.
All I can say is thanks and ask one question:
2008?
Because, believe me, you'll have tons of support from the left.
Peace.

Sir:
Thank you for all your work on what went wrong in the 2004 election, and lately your comments about Kenneth Blackwell's continued adventures in avoiding any responsibility or even admitted cognizance of the flaws in Ohio's election, which greatly exceeded the failure point for measuring a close election.
Your leadership on the questions surrounding the outcome of this election are deeply valued by many of us, and I hope you feel our support and good wishes.

Thank you, Thank you! You are a man of courage and insight.
One of the many concerns I have is that the lack of media coverage of all your work has lulled many into a sense of "sure, everything is okay". I would like to think there are people out there that if given the information that we believe is to be true, they would begin to realize, like those of us that try to stay informed, that there are so many things that are illegal, wrong and a pack of lies. My frustration is not only with the things this administration is doing to our country and our people, but with the huge void in the coverage by the media to show our people what is really happening to our country. I know the prevailing opinions of corporate owned media will never be part of the truth, but certainly we must be able to find a way to get the message to the masses! I keep waiting for some of the issues to be "the one" that begins the process of opening people's eyes, the lack of news coverage is to blame, I believe. If we could get beyond the occasional mention on MSNBC and LTTE, we would stand a chance. Surely there is a way to enlighten the people with their heads in the sand!
